Follow up on a requested quote without sounding pushy
Draft one polite follow-up that preserves your price and terms and gives the customer an easy next step.
Before you start
- Check the quote is still valid and that its scope and price have not changed.
- Confirm the customer requested the quote and that this follow-up fits your existing conversation.
- Replace customer identifiers and remove private details before using an external assistant.
When this helps
Useful for one follow-up to an existing inquiry. A short draft does not require a sales automation subscription.
This prepares a draft. You review and take the final action.

Starting material
Quote: Q-104, home-office clean, $180, valid until October 7. History: Customer requested the quote. Sent September 24; no reply as of September 30. Next step: Ask if they have questions or want to proceed. Tone: Friendly, brief.
A useful draft
Subject: A quick follow-up on quote Q-104 Hi Jordan, I'm following up on quote Q-104 for the home-office clean at $180. It's valid until October 7. Do you have any questions, or would you like to proceed? Thanks, Alex Short text: Hi Jordan, following up on quote Q-104 for the home-office clean ($180, valid until October 7). Any questions, or would you like to proceed? Thanks, Alex Check: These dates and terms are fictional example details. Check your actual quote before sending.
Check before using it
- Does the price, scope, quote reference, and expiry match the original?
- Does the message imply they accepted or showed interest beyond what happened?
- Is every availability or timing claim supported?
- Does it offer a discount or altered terms you did not authorize?
- Is one clear next step enough, without another follow-up already being scheduled?
If it needs work
- Remove the urgency and availability claims. Use only the quote terms I gave you.
- Do not assume they are ready to book. Ask if they have questions or would like to proceed.
- Shorten this to one reminder sentence and one clear question. Preserve the quote reference.
The simpler alternative
Save a short follow-up template and add a calendar reminder when you send each quote. The missing piece may be remembering to follow up rather than writing new copy.
When a specialist product may be worthwhile
A CRM may help when you handle many quotes and need shared reminders or a record of follow-ups. Start with reminder tracking; review contact consent and messages before adding automated sending.
